Summer sledding at Folgefonna 2009

So it's that sweet time at the year when summer meets winter. For the third year in a row I'm on the way south to Folgefonna, Espeland, Jondal, Bergen, Norway, Scandinavia, Europe, Tellus. .....

Not.

It all started so good. I called around and friends from near and far wanted to come along for this "dream" trip. But as the days counted down as did the people. A week ago I had to start to call the people on the reserve list. And now when it's down to D-day -2, I'm all alone. Last year it was the same. That time I went alone down there (Well, I meet up with the Ridefree guy's but still had to pay for the driving down and back all by myself). A few weeks ago I went up to Vouggatjålme. From me thats a nice 10 hour drive one way. That time it was all the same. Ton's of people wanted to come along. I ended up going myself. That trip cost me shitloads of gas money. This trip is longer. More gas money.

Ok so why am I complaining like this?

Well, I feel like it's a change coming. The diehard riders are harder to find and there is a lot more weekend riders out there. There could also be that I'm old, ugly and smell of elderberry.
A few year's ago there was always a few that would do anything for going snowmobiling, Snowboarding or even skiing.  I went to New Zeeland, Chile and Argentina for the sports. And people always came along.  Now It's hard to get people coming along for a fika (Coffee and sandwich) on a mountain restaurant. It's like to much work somehow.  People alway's say's they have to much work to do, have no money, hangovered and so on. Years ago me and my friends had no money (litterly) and had a constant hangover.  Somehow we got money, and managed to go places.

This new thing is also showing when the local snowmobile club has a meeting. Of close to 200 members regular turnout is 5-8 people and then you have to offer free coffee.

Is there a change coming or what is going on?......

Perhaps I should update this one. I did go there again. Some hardcore riders from Älvsbyn and Arjeplog came along. I miss those people in my neighborhood.
Ok about your questions. As in most of Norway sledding is forbidden. And since Folgefonna i s in a national park it's really forbidden. So yes you need a invitation. That is the only way to get there.
And yes riding in summer is better then sex.... well thats a draw...It's better then beer.....Hmm... another draw it's better then tax.
